CHILDREN IN DISTRESS
Children in Distress is a charity founded in 1990 as a direct response to the desperate plight of abandoned HIV children found in Romanian orphanages. It provides loving care for terminally ill children, living with multiple medical conditions/HIV AIDS, in Romania. Four Children's Centres provide residential hospice care and specialised day clinics including an Autism Centre. There are numerous outreach projects offering help and support to families in the wider community. St. Laurence Children's Hospice, in Cernavoda, opened in 1992 and in 1996 our daughter Charlotte spent 3 months as a volunteer there. Our family became actively involved and we regularly visit the charity's projects for which we receive wonderful support from the local community.
