Cllr Sam Boote

I have lived in Keyworth since 1985, when my job was moved to the British Geological Survey. My professional career was spent in Information Technology and took me from BGS to Ashfield District Council and then Leicestershire County Council before I retired in 2006.
I first became a Keyworth councillor in 1995, when I joined the Parish Council and subsequently became its Vice-Chairman and then Chairman (in 1998-99). I was elected to Rushcliffe Borough Council to represent North Keyworth in 1999 and have remained there to this date. For a few years I was not a member of the Parish Council while I concentrated on my Borough duties, but I have now rejoined the Parish and I serve North Keyworth (and indeed all the people of Keyworth) in both capacities.
I am married to Debbie, who is both Borough and Parish councillor for South Keyworth. We have two sons, Matthew and Christopher.
I am a member of the Parish Council‘s Planning Committee. Having served for 8 years on the Borough Council‘s Development Control Committee, I take a keen interest in planning both at the local level and in borough-wide strategic planning.
I strongly support the non-political traditions of Keyworth Parish Council, where the members work together to serve the community rather than trying to gain advantage for any political party. I also feel strongly about councils working together to serve the public and to get the best value for money for our residents and taxpayers. I believe that councillors are there to serve their electors and to be responsive to them.
In the little spare time that I have outside council and community work, my interests include astronomy, model railways and playing the trombone.
