Chris Kemp was coopted onto the Parish Council in January 2008. Previously I lived in West Bridgford and worked for Plessey. We then had school age children and I was a governor of several schools in West Bridgford. When Plessey ceased to exist I joined Ericsson and moved south though 2 of our 4 children stayed here. In Cold Ash, West Berkshire, I helped to create the Parish Plan. I wrote the Transport Action Plan, the most controversial one! When the Parish Plan was adopted by Cold Ash Parish Council and by West Berkshire District Council I became Chairman of the Cold Ash Community Partnership, the body we set up to progress the action plans. I also served on Cold Ash Parish Council, including its Planning Committee. Recent retirement, at 62, provided the opportunity to move back to Rushcliffe and be near two of our 4 children and our grandson. Within Ericsson my responsibilities included regulations and government relations. I was responsible for relations with the then DTI and with Ofcom for example and shared some of the work towards the relevant EU institutions. I still do a bit of that as a part time consultant, averaging about 6 days a month mostly outside the UK but within the EU. |
