FRIENDS OF KADZINUNI
UK Registered Charity Number 1098881
Hon Patron Joanna Lumley OBE
Established in 2003 The Friends of Kadzinuni is a UK charity, based in Keyworth. It supports Kadzinuni Primary School and its rural community located near the small town of Vipingo north of Mombasa on the Kenya coast. Kadzinuni is home to just under 8,000 people - more or less the same size as Keyworth and up to 2016 over £200,000 has been channelled into projects at Kadzinuni.
The Friends is supported by local organisations - churches, schools and voluntary groups. It has helped in building classrooms, a clinic, library, toilets, a local farmers training school and an improved water supply and many other projects. The Friends is succeeding in its aim to help a very poor rural community to become self sufficient and able to generate its own wealth in the long term.
Kendrick's Clinic is attended by 1,500 to 2,000 people every month. Many Keyworth people also act as sponsors enabling Kadzinuni children to go to secondary school. Since 2006 we have supported over 130 students, including one young man who we have supported to gain a degree in comerce after attending university in Kenya.
