Keyworth & District University of the Third Age (U3A)

Keyworth & District U3A is our local self-managed centre for life-long learning established in February 2009. U3A is based on the idea that retired people have lots of experience of making decisions about what they are going to do and can draw on their own rich experience of life to do it. So there are two complementary themes which run through U3A: independence of mind: we are capable of deciding what we want to do; and sharing with like-minded people to cooperate to get it done.

Members have the opportunity to share learning experiences in a wide range of interest groups and to pursue learning, not for qualifications, but fun. There are currently over thirty interest groups up and running and there are no formal examinations or coursework to complete, just the satisfaction of making new friends, and gaining insight and experience in areas of personal interest. U3A offers the opportunity to dip into an interest and pursue it if you wish or choose something else if you are not so sure.

Monthly meetings are held on the fourth Tuesday of the month at Keyworth Methodist Hall from 2-4.30p.m. when members, non members (who may attend one meeting to see if it is for them before joining) and new members are welcome to have a cup of tea/coffee/biscuit and listen to talks on a wide range of subjects.
